Richard Durand presents Morning light

Richard Durand presents Morning lightFresh from his Beatport top 10 hitting remix of Svenson’s classic ‘Sunlight Theory’ last month, arch trance-master Richard Durand returns for his first release strike of 2014 with ‘Morning Light’. Fusing elements of his best-known-for sound with some different sonic threads, the result is as captivating as it is downright speaker thrashing!

Richard’s latest kicks out floor thrust from its outset, building into a twister of electro-shocking break-beat loops, sizzling FX and floor-infecting vocal samples. From there Durand deals out bass justice with a cliff-dive drop into deep techy bongs, space-ily atmospheric bleeps, super-squelch LFO and stabby after-FX. At the cusp of the break, with its production avionics primed for uplift, the track’s mainline goes surface to air at the speed of sound.

Rivet-tough, for floors that truly know, ‘Morning Light’ is out now.

“‘Full Circle’ represents my journey as an artist, says Sander van der Waal

“‘Full Circle’ represents my journey as an artist, says Sander van der WaalIn a comparatively short time frame Holland’s Sander van der Waal released his debut album on In Trance We Trance, before changing lanes for the new creative aesthetic of its Magik Muzik follow-up. Now, in 2014, he completes that initial three-album arc with ‘Full Circle’. For this new long-player, the spectrum of Van der Waal’s compound sound becomes ever yet more expansive. Frequency hopping across genre bands – often inside the confines of a single track, it beguiles the audiophile by exploring the EDM route less travelled. The only predictable feature of ‘Full Circle’ is its entire lack of predictability!

Also along for this sonic ride, he’s brought many a standout vocalist, to the album, with performances by international singer-songwriters including Eric Lumiere, Sarah Howells, Relyk, Tyler Sherritt and others. Never knowing exactly what’s around the corner has rarely provided such a thrall-ish, edge-of-the-seat type listening experience!

On the release of his third album, Sander stated: “‘Full Circle’ represents my journey as an artist and song composer, as I feel this album stands for the completion of an era and my development as an artist. With this album I’ve followed my heart and some songs took days while others took weeks or sometimes even months. Even though an album is never finished for a producer until it leaves it’s studio, the same goes for a circle as it has no beginning nor and ending.”

MOONBEAM presents Space odyssey: Mars

MOONBEAM presents Space odyssey: MarsBreaking the stratosphere, hurled up out of the troposphere and onwards, into the inky blackness… With their first space odyssey, Moonbeam travelled at some magnificent speeds around the electronic music universe. Seeing them successfully orbit the second rock from the Sun, the ‘Venus’ mission concluded four years ago. Now those fearless Federators are ready to suit-up again, to take their second space shot. This time though the Russian duo are heading in the opposite direction. Past the blasted lunar landscapes from which they part take their name, and upward towards that tiny mysterious red microdot in the night sky.

For Odyssey II, the pair have compiled a tracklist to do their interplanetary journey supreme justice. In highly atmospheric and distinctly soundtrack-like fashion, tempos, tones, instrumentations and sub-genres change at the speed of sound. To do this they’ve brought together music from studio-astronomers like Cosmic Gate, Andain, Myon & Shane 54, Super8 & Tab and Julie Thompson, Jaytech, Andy Duguid and others. Mixing international names with homegrown talent, the mixes also mass audio from Moonbeam and their evermore renowned label stable. So climb aboard and strap in good ‘n’ tight, because musically Pawel & Vitaly are going further, wider and deeper than they’ve ever gone before. This is ‘Space Odyssey: Mars’.
