SoulFunktion is a collaboration between long standing London based DJ Wally Walton and the legendary UK House producer Brian Keys Tharme. First having worked together in the 90s on releases for a variety of labels including Sweat, Narcotic and Catch Records (in which Brian was a partner with Gavin Face Mills of Copyright fame), the boys are now back together with their 25 years of experience at the top of the UK club scene to bring you their new productions. DJ ANGELO debut Tribe release ‘LET THE MUSIC PLAY’ is out

DJ ANGELO debut Tribe release 'LET THE MUSIC PLAY' is outTribe Records likes to get around. ‘One Tribe. One People!’ is our mantra, and we love to get out to see our people! Among the many superb DJ all-stars to join us there was Global Fantasy’s DJ Angelo, whose club night in Athens is one of Zepherin Saint’s favourite regular places to play.

Some of you will already be a little bit familiar with DJ Angelo’s house-driven reworking of Shannon’s 1983 disco classic. Why did he make it now? ‘I’ve always loved the tune,’ says Angelo, ‘and I wanted to give it my own interpretation.’

We’re delighted by Angelo’s debut Tribe release, but his overnight success as a producer is built on the back of decades of DJing. He’s been playing out since he was 16, and has built up renowned DJ residencies with Global Fantasy throughout Greece as well as the regular weekly parties at Mamacas in Athens, guest DJing around the Mediterranean, and visiting South Africa for many years to showcase his talents in Pretoria and Johannesburg

FEAT. ALEXANDRA BADOI – I’LL BE FINE

SUNLOUNGER
FEAT. ALEXANDRA BADOI – I’LL BE FINEUnder Sunlounger – the most renowned of the Roger Shah pseudonyms, the German producer/composer presents the first single to be drawn from the ‘Balearic Beauty’ album. Featuring the transcendent vocals of Romanian songstress Alexandra Badoi, ‘I’ll Be Fine’ delivers the perfect summer 2013 summation.

Ranged across four different versions and six mixes and edits, ‘I’ll Be Fine’ abounds with classic Sunlounger touches and moments. In its Album Mix form it shimmers with melodic lilt – driven by Roger’s coolly running beats & percussion lines, swimming with elegiac note arrangements and further intoxicated by Badoi’s vocal lament.

The Roger Shah Rework of ‘I’ll Be Fine’ is the picture-perfect club-floor transfer. Rolling out deep bass and tougher edged distortion, it sets up a progressive-trance sound-storm. Cutting, looping and editing ‘I’ll Be Fine’s vocal parts, Shah effects a slow-burn release of the song – one that break-side fully erupts with striking impact.

The underground scene is thriving and we think it’s time to unleash GFY Black Label on the world, and what a huge honor to launch with an original by such a pioneering producer such as Misjah!“ – Kenny Summit

ANDY DUGUID ON THE EDGE

ANDY DUGUID ON THE EDGEThe archetypal producer risk-taker, Andy Duguid is a man on the cutting edge. His independent in-studio approach has placed him in a coveted position – his music sought and respected by the DJ underground and establishment alike. With his debut album, 2008’s ‘Believe’, the Scotsman hardwired his reputation as a skilled sound-shaper – a name that came quick to the lips of those in the know. Now, five years on and after an uncountable number of late-night studio hours, the follow up to ‘Believe’ is here. Andy is about to push those limits once again.

With spinners bible DJ Mag last month dubbing him „the martinet of ‘doin’-it-different“, ‘On The Edge’ sees Andy passage house hinterlands, progressive atmospheres, harmonic trance highs and all points between. Featuring vocal turns from Julie Thompson, Jaren, Audrey Gallagher, Seri and other leading light EDM singer-songwriters, ‘On The Edge’ brings 12 new pieces of music and 12 new reasons to embrace the matchless sound of Duguid.

Every one of ‘On The Edge’s tracks gleam with a lavished, intensive, almost OCD production attention. The vocals crush the wonk-wonk tropes of commercial trance soundly under-heel and unusual, attention-grab track trajectories appear when you least expect them. Some fresh air has been breathed here.” – MIXMAG October Album of the Month
