PAUL VAN DYK ‘(R)EVOLUTION’: The RemixesLast year, through his sixth artist album, electronic music legend Paul van Dyk changed up perceptions of the PvD sound, wholesale. Over the course of 2012, ‘EVOLUTION’s multiverse tracklist spawned five single sales-chart smashes, an epic, globe‐circling 150+ date tour, sustained fan & press veneration and an ever‐widening stylistic scope of DJ support.

Now that ‘the originals’ have been established, the time has come to let the remixers speak as Paul’s evolution becomes an out‐and‐out revolution! Handpicked by the man himself ‐ from the ready‐to‐break to the firmly established ‐ the remix gathering has assembled. Let the reworks begin!

Naturally, the original versions of EVOLUTION’s tracks were mine and and my co-producers visions. The singles to date have brought some wonderful, creative remixes with them. Ones that blew me away when I heard them and which I played in-club and on the radio throughout last year. They were the seed points for this album; now is the right time to push the boundaries of ‘EVOLUTION’ that bit further”

Comprising 17 fresh‐off‐the‐desk reworks from a full company of van Dyk’s fellow production studionauts, this is where evolution ends and full‐scale revolution breaks out. Sowing the uprising’s first seeds is the production brotherhood of Woody van Eyden and Alex M.O.R.P.H., who are respectively tasked with retakes of ‘Sun After Heartbreak’ and ‘Such A Feeling’ (aka ‘Verano’). Drawing on a wealth of nirvana harmonics, thermal synths and Sue McLaren‘s and Elijah King‘s vocal talents, they reposition PvD’s original versions in an entirely new light… and time of the night.

Markus Schulz nominated for 5 Awards At the 28th Annual International Dance Music Awards

Markus Schulz nominated for 5 Awards At the 28th  Annual International Dance Music Awards The shortlist for the 2013 IDMAs has been announced and renowned DJ, producer, broadcaster and label head Markus Schulz has picked up nominations in 5 of the Awards most hotly anticipated categories.

Celebrating its first decade on air, Markus’ weekly Global DJ Broadcast show is back in contention for Best Radio Mix Show and he’s also been shortlisted for the highly prized Best Global DJ gong. Schulz is equally well represented on the music release front. He’s picked up a nod for his eighth City mix-compilation, the former MIXMAG Album of the Month ‘Los Angeles ‘12’. From his 2012 artist album ‘Scream’, the Ana Diaz vocalled ‘Nothing Without Me’ is vying for Best Trance Track of 2012. Adding to his clutch of noms, Markus’ Coldharbour Recordings joins Ultra, Defected, Ministry of Sound, Spinnin’, Toolroom and parent-label Armada in the role call for Best Global Music Label. Following the IDMA’s announcement yesterday, Markus said: “across all the areas of music I work in its been 12 magnificent months to remember and I’m delighted that the fans have seen fit to place me in so many IDMA categories this year. I look forward to seeing as many of them as possible throughout the course of Winter Music Conference, at Space and UMF. See you all in the Sunshine State folks!”

'Just Say Yes' to RaShaan Houston & Mr Egg GermThe Brothers reveal their second release from soulful Illinois talent, RaShaan Houston, adding some much needed warmth to our Winter playlists with a silky smooth love song titled  ‘Just Say Yes‘ featuring Chicago’s Mr Egg Germ. A downtempo urban groove underpins a funk fuelled soundtrack of warm keys, guitar and boogie bass, courtesy of Mr Egg Germ, whose high class musicianship compliments RaShaan’s seductive vocal. Also on the package are mixes from Italian group The Funklovers who take a four to the floor jazzy approach, injecting classy brass stabs and riveting key slaying. Swiss house maestro, Mirco Esposito, opts for sublime groove designed for the deep house palate, turning out a cool retro tinged beaut’ to savour on the dancefloor.

A gifted vocalist, songwriter, and live performer, RaShaan Houston has garnered much praise in dance music, combining equal parts gospel roots, jazz sensibility, 70’s soul and rock. In 1996, RaShaan began a long collaboration (6 years) with the Pound Boys/LAY Records, unleashing the 1998 anthem ‘The Right Way’ (LAY Records), followed by ‘Be With You’, ‘Shine’ and ‘Power’ and recently ‘Let Me Live’. Rashaan has recorded and performed with DJ Oji, Audiowhores, George Jackson, Ce Ce Peniston, Dave „RedSoul“ Wareing, Sol4orce to name a few. He has opened shows for DJs such as Hex Hector, Farley Jackmaster Funk and Stacy Kidd, among others and is currently developing his newly formed live band, The Capital S Experience.

Berlin Festival: Celebrating 10 years of Ed Banger Records at Club XbergThe Berlin Festival organisers have already revealed that Blur, Pet Shop Boys and Turbostaat will grace the main stage at Tempelhof Airport on 6th and 7th September 2013. Now, Club Xberg at Arena Berlin is also taking shape, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Ed Banger Records with Justice, Busy P, Breakbot and SebastiAn

On 6th and 7th September, Berlin Festival will begin 48 hours of festival madness starting at the historic Tempelhof Airport. Once again, when the clock hits midnight the festival will change locations, continuing at Arena Berlin under the guise of Club Xberg until the wee hours.

With the first acts to be announced for Club Xberg, the organisers have a very special occasion to celebrate: the 10th anniversary of Ed Banger Records. As part of a number of Ed Banger birthday bashes all over the globe, the French electro label, which is home to acts like Justice, Uffie and Mr. Oizo, will also touch down in Berlin on 7th September, giving festivalgoers the opportunity to be part of the celebrations.

Aldo “Haldo” Carpanzano has been the resident DJ for one of the most important clubs in Southern Italy (Rebus Disconight) for over 20 years. It plays host to DJs like Little Louie Vega, Tony Humphries, Ralphi Rosario, Victor Simonelli among other big names. Haldo is also a musician and producer who has worked with many artists, releasing on labels such as Clubstar, Tony Records, Transport, Equal, and Adaption Music among others. Together with Geppy “Mischibo” Amoruso, he formed The Desansis Project, releasing their ‘Slowfeed’ album on Clubstar – a chill out production, considered by critics as one of the most elegant and sophisticated in the lounge music world. Almost all the album tracks have been licensed to compilations including The Best Of Café Ibiza, Caffè Ibiza Vol 7, Buddha Club, Brax Feel Good, G Lounge 1/2, just to name a few. Haldo owns several record labels including Proceed Records. In January 2012 he launched Rebus Records (A division of Proceed Records), with his own collaboration with Pierre Ravan titled ‘Spiritual Meandering’. The philosophy of Rebus Records is to produce timeless music without following the passing trends of the moment, through joint projects with artists around the globe: a universal collaboration for universal music. Other release to date include Odo Makes A Smile ‘Superfly’ and Haldo ft Silvio Gigante ‘Higher Ground’.
