Andain – You Once Told Me

Andain - You Once Told MeFor such a concise discography, the history of one of EDM’s greatest cult duos has been writ plenty large. ‘Summer Calling’. ‘Beautiful Things’. Two tracks, two successive years, two conclusive anthems and ones that masterminded the rocking of countless club floors. That was followed by a recorded-but-never-released long-player, band hiatus, a parting of ways and finally, in 2011, the reunion.
All of which has led to this point: the release of Andain’s first official album…

When the demands of their individual careers proved too great, it seemed to spell a premature finale for one of dance music’s most gifted acts. But through ‘You Once Told Me’ fate has intervened. Songstress Mavie Marcos and production wunderkind Josh Gabriel (Gabriel & Dresden) are finally set to deliver their first full-length track collection.

Opening the album’s account is their most recent single. Resonating with deep, spacious bass, ‘Turn Up The Sound’s refined Indian-inspired percussive instrumentation backs Mavie’s loud-and-clear call to action. Setting a more chilled, Café del Mar-ish tone, ‘Like’ has an aching, lyrical fragility that’s picked out, to beautiful effect, by Gabriel’s slo-mo beats and enrapturing string sections.

Peven Everett ‘Black Boy’ (Mark Stone & Terry Lex Mixes)

Peven Everett 'Black Boy' (Mark Stone & Terry Lex Mixes)Chicago’s amazingly talented Peven Everett reveals his latest single, ‘Black Boy’, produced by Mark Stone & Terry Lex for UDM Show Records. Delivered with lyrical honesty and a heartfelt vocal performance, Peven reflects on his trials and tribulations as an individual. As a result, ‘Black Boy’ is hooky slice of soulful house, binded by an irresistible groove that’s laced with striking strings to captivate the dance floor!

„I wrote the song because regardless of where I come from I have to remember it. Many thoughts go through your mind in times of trouble and we second guess ourselves. This song urges me to never forget why I got into music in the first place.“ – Peven Everett

Peven Everett is one of a few in this day and age where he writes and performs all of music in the studio as well as multi-tasking on his spectacular live shows worldwide. Coming from a very musical family, he was performing from the age of 3 and by the time he was 10 years old was fluent in Drums, Guitar, Bass, flute, piano, trombone and trumpet, and after a spell in NYC where his talent was nurtured by Betty Carter, he has been working in music ever since. Peven was responsible for one of the biggest records in the UK Garage Movement, the now classic ‘Gabrielle’ on XL Recordings (1997).

Octave One ‘New Life’ (Ft. Unsubscribe & Different World Remixes)

Octave One ‘New Life’ (Ft. Unsubscribe & Different World Remixes)‘New Life’ is the powerful new soulful-techno outing from some of the most prominent brothers in the world of electronic dance music, Octave One. Armed with a pulsating bass line, driving beats and those lush, dramatic signature O1 strings, ‘New Life’ carries a message of positivity beautifully sung by Atlanta vocalist, Afrika. Also featured on the package are remixes from Unscubscribe (aka Techno legend Dave Clarke & Mr Jones), who flip over to the dark side, weaving an intense techno tapestry of menacing synths and slamming beats. Different World (aka Claude Young & Takasi Nakajima) finish the release on a euphoric note, drizzling the track with sublime piano and a delicate garnish of pretty strings.

The video shot in Madrid, Spain, was directed by STEEL5000 and Martín García Blaya of W0RKT34M, whose choice theme for the video was synchronised swimming because of it’s sheer beauty and strength. It also includes some fantastic divers who were discovered whilst training at the same venue – Centro de Natación Mundial 86. The talented stars on the video are young Madrileños from  Madrid’s Swimming Federation (Federación Madrileña de Natación).  These are dedicated athletes that form part of the Centro de Tecnifición, a national Spanish program to create future athletes.  Continue reading Octave One ‘New Life’ (Ft.
